Here is a cool tip on how to prepare corn for eating. First, peel the husk off, leaving behind 1-2 layers of leaves and the corn silk. Place them in a pot of cold water and gradually bring to a boil. This helps the corn cook from the interior to exterior, allowing it to retain its natural flavor. Adding 2 grams (1/4 teaspoon) of baking soda helps preserve vitamins B1 and B2, which make the corn sweeter and yellower. You’ll observe the kernels are plump and contain a richer flavor than the typical method of boiling. Allow the corn to cook almost completely prior to adding a little salt to enhance the natural sweetness without causing shrinkage of the corn. Once complete, take the corn out, drain and peel. Now it’s time to enjoy some nutritious corn on the cob with me!
