American electrician and former atheist Bryan Melvin shares how he died and went from hell to Heaven.
In 1980, Bryan, then a devout atheist, contracted a deadly cholera infection from contaminated water while backpacking in Alaska [US]. The illness caused blood poisoning and clinical death. As his body failed, Bryan felt deep peace. Radiant beings appeared, welcoming him to “Paradise” and urging him to enter. Their warmth masked deception—what seemed Heavenly was the threshold of hell, where other souls were lured into isolated cubes of torment.
The illusion collapsed, revealing a vast pit of fiery caverns and prison cells. Flames roared, the air thick with sulfur, rot, roses, and linseed oil. On a rock suspended in darkness stood Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian), Whose presence exposed Bryan’s deepest flaws— lies, thefts, drug dealings, and manipulations, all born of humanity’s fallen nature. With nothing left to hide, Bryan faced judgment. Lord Jesus said, “Your return is yet to be decided.” Demons—reptilian, foul-smelling beasts— swarmed to devour Bryan. One, which Bryan called “Lizard Breath,” led the attack, tearing at trapped souls.
Bryan saw Adolf Hitler confined in a fiery oven, eternally reliving the Holocaust’s horrors as millions of victims tormented him, and Reinhard Heydrich, the Nazi architect of the Holocaust, suffering similarly beside him. A deceitful pastor writhed in a cell, his hypocrisy and abuse revealed. Every soul recognized his or her just punishment, exactly matching the pain they caused others— everything from murder to cruel words. Hell held no compassion, only endless justice and God’s total absence. Demons tempted Bryan to curse God, himself, or them, aiming to seal his doom.
Lord Jesus then commanded, “Say My name.” When Bryan shouted “Jesus Christ!” the demons recoiled, powerless to harm him. At the edge of his own torment cube, he felt despair, but Lord Jesus steadied him on the rock and blew him backward through the darkness. Bryan’s spirit drifted back into his body gently, like a falling leaf. Neighbors found him gasping and rushed him to the hospital, where fluids and antibiotics revived him. The next morning, during prayer, a cooling breeze filled the room as Bryan said, “Lord Jesus, keep me from that place. I am Yours.” Peace replaced terror; he accepted Lord Jesus as His Savior.
The hell-experience left Bryan with trauma— crowds and odors triggered flashbacks of demons. He wrestled with guilt: “Why was I spared?” Nightmares woke him screaming Christ’s name. Seeking healing, he threw himself into church life—playing in the praise band, sharing his faith, leading prayers, and helping at a youth shelter. During one prayer, a skeptical boy mocked them over his broken arm; the next day, the bone had miraculously healed, and he returned in awe.
Three years later, after a long prayer service, Bryan returned home exhausted. As he lay beside his German Shepherd dog-person, blinding Light filled the room three times with an electric hum, and a commanding Voice thundered, “Awake, arise, stand to your feet!” Bryan’s dog companion wagged excitedly at an unseen Presence stroking her ears. Bryan grumbled for sleep, but on the third call, he switched on lights and flung open the door, fearing he had missed the Rapture [Messiah’s return]. A calm, familiar Voice— Lord Jesus—asked, “Do you remember how you left before?” Bryan said, “Yes, Lord,” and laid back in bed. Instantly, his spirit lifted, passing through the cabinet above his bed, which was later found unhinged.
Through soothing darkness, Bryan heard Heavenly Music praising God’s Character. He arrived before a sheep gate where Lord Jesus stood, the Golden City shining in the background. “Welcome home,” Lord Jesus said. “Follow Me.” There was no judgment, only love. They passed a radiant gem-covered wall shielding mortal eyes from Divine fullness, as angels hurried through a swirling pearly gate on missions to help humanity.
The pearl’s chisel marks depicted the Passion of Christ—the betrayal, scourging, mockery, cross, and Divine wrath Lord Jesus bore for mankind. Lord Jesus’ descent into hell proclaimed victory and freed righteous souls. His atonement covered sincere followers’ stored sins.
Heaven radiated “liquid love,” a tangible, nurturing presence stronger than anything on Earth. In a meadow Bryan called the “field of reunion,” families and friends were restored: a father embraced his estranged son, parents reunited with children lost to illness or accidents, and a woman met her aborted child, now grown, who said, “Hi, Mom—it’s okay. Let’s play.” Guilt vanished; all wounds healed.
Choosing to see the countryside before entering the Golden City, Bryan strolled with Lord Jesus along a luminous path through flawless forests and meadows. Believers tended “oaks of righteousness,” vineyards overflowed with fruit, and flowers shone with their own light. Near a garden stood a four-faced cherub overseeing the Heavenly Council. Beyond it, God’s throne blazed, wings veiling its intensity as angels stood receiving commands of creation.
A crystal river of life flowed endlessly, its tributaries branching outward. Children splashed in a stream; Lord Jesus waded in, laughing and playfully dunking them—a joyful, approachable friend. The fun washed away Bryan’s trauma. Across the hills stood grand estates— golden mansions of intricate geometry. A man waved to him— it was his grandfather, appearing at age thirty. Bryan later confirmed his exact appearance in an old photograph.
In the Golden City, travel was effortless. Angels prepared the marriage supper of the Lamb, while the cubic New Jerusalem assembled in brilliance.
Back at the sheep gate, Lord Jesus exhaled, and Bryan was propelled home. He awoke at dawn refreshed; birds sang, exhaustion gone. At work, his boss exclaimed, “You’re glowing!” Little kids approached him tugging his jeans, saying, “You saw Jesus, didn’t you?” For three days, Bryan radiated peace— birds perched on him, and his dog companion ignored fox-people by the river—peace permeating all.
The Heavenly vision ended Bryan’s PTSD [post-traumatic stress disorder] and fear-based faith. Grace, not worldly effort, defined his life from then on, guided by love and gentle discipline under the enduring presence of Christ (Randy Kay)
Uplifting quote of the day: “Our Lord’s Love shines out just as much through a little soul who yields completely to His Grace as it does through the greatest.” — The Venerated Enlightened Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (vegetarian)
