American civil rights activist David Williamson shares his near-death experience that made him discover we are all one.
David grew up in a racially tense, impoverished town, where hatred between white and black people shaped his worldview. Years of internalized anger damaged his health, leading to dangerously high blood pressure and digestive issues.
In 2021, David felt a ripping pain behind his heart while sitting in his garage. Thinking it was back pain from herniated discs, he tried to push through. But later his breathing became difficult, and his son’s mother rushed him to the emergency room. There, he lost consciousness.
Immediately, David found himself outside his body, watching the doctors work on him and seeing a grieving woman in the corner. David felt no pain— only peace, beauty, and a deep sense of perfection. His body and brain were gone, but his essence— his soul—remained. He felt part of a unified, loving whole where all questions were instantly answered.
David was then instantly transported to a vast, star-forming region, with the emergency room below and a velvet-like void beneath him that responded lovingly to his thoughts. He saw himself as a glowing orb of Light, detached from human identities or struggles. Everyone, he realized, is such a soul—not just a body.
Watching the hospital workers, David noticed one man’s desperation to save him. He wished he could comfort the woman crying. When he came back to his body, his first words were to ask if they were okay. Seeing the defibrillator pads and their imprint on his chest, David realized he had truly died, yet felt no pain during the process. This eliminated his fear of death.
Afterward, David became more empathetic and peaceful. He no longer feels weighed down by anger, hate, or racial identity. His interactions are smoother and free of political or racial tension, and he performs better at work. He has developed a strong sense of responsibility, realizing even silent thoughts affect the energy around him. David now believes we create our next life using our attention. By focusing on love and hope, not fear, we unlock our inner creative potential, overcome the punishing limitations of our own mind, and awaken our eternal soul within (Coming Home)
