American pastor Reverend Ron Reagan shares his near-death experience, in which he saw hell and then became a believer in Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian).
In 1972, before he knew Christ, Ron was a violent, drug-addicted criminal. His marriage was in ruins, his children were afraid of him, and he was spiraling into darkness. One night, he took his six-year-old son to a convenience store, got into a fight, and was badly injured, with a torn bicep and cut arteries.
Bleeding out, with his little boy screaming, Ron was rushed by a store clerk to the hospital. Doctors said he might lose his arm, had to go to another hospital, and loaded him into an ambulance. His wife climbed in beside him. A young paramedic leaned over and said, “Sir, you need Jesus Christ.” Ron cursed him, but the paramedic said it again.
In an instant, the ambulance seemed to explode in fire and smoke. Ron felt himself moving through a tunnel of blackness, then heard a roar of screams. Below was a volcanic pit— flames, smoke, and people burning but never consumed. Some were faces he knew: a man killed in a robbery, others who died from drunk driving or overdoses. They called, “Ronnie, don’t come here. There’s no way out.” The stench of sulfur, the hopelessness, and the loneliness were unbearable. Ron was terrified… then everything went black.
Ron woke up in the hospital— with nearly a hundred stitches, his arm saved— but all he could think of was that place. He tried to forget it using drugs and alcohol, but he couldn’t escape it.
One morning, he came home to find his wife glowing— her face transformed. She said, “Ronnie, last night I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior.” She invited him to church, and, having tried everything else, he agreed.
At church, the preacher read: “Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.” That word—“Lamb”— hit Ron like lightning. At nine years old, he had a baby lamb, his only friend. One night, his abusive father killed it in a drunken rage. That wound filled Ron’s life with hatred and violence.
The preacher said Jesus was GOD’s Lamb, sacrificed to give forgiveness and a new life. Ron walked to the front and prayed, “GOD, if You’re real, and Jesus, if You are GOD’s Lamb, kill me or cure me. I don’t want to live anymore.” Instantly, every bit of guilt, darkness, and hatred left him. His tears flowed for the first time since childhood as Jesus became his Lord and Savior. Ron’s drug addiction and alcoholism were instantly gone, with no withdrawal, and his mind was healed. His nature changed from violence to love, and he remained married to the same woman. He became a pastor, started four churches, and earned a master’s degree after age 40.
Lord Jesus saved him that night— and Ron knew he had been spared to warn people that hell is real… but so is the hope in Jesus Christ (Dr. Maurice Rawlings; Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural!)
Noble-hearted quote of the day: “The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it.” – John Ruskin
