I have a useful tip on how to speed up the ripening process of avocados. Set unripe avocados on a warm, sunny windowsill or another warm spot in your home to accelerate the natural ripening process. Rotate the avocados occasionally to encourage even ripening. This method typically takes two to four days. For faster results, place the avocado in a paper bag. This traps the ethylene gas naturally released by the fruit, helping it ripen in one to three days. To speed things up even more, add an apple or banana to the bag because both release additional ethylene gas. Check the avocado periodically every four to six hours to see when it reaches your preferred level of ripeness. To slow the ripening process, place slightly underripe avocados in the refrigerator since the cooler temperature slows ethylene production and can extend their shelf life by about three to five days. However, avoid refrigerating avocados that are still rock hard as this can interfere with the natural ripening process and negatively affect their eventual texture.
Now, it’s time to let our spirits take flight through the joke of the day, entitled “Meant to Be.”
Darren, an accountant, was trying to slim down and took his new diet seriously. He even changed his morning route to work so he wouldn’t pass by his favorite bakery. But one morning, Darren arrived at work carrying a gigantic vegan coffeecake. “Darren! What happened to the diet?”
“This is different. I accidentally drove past the bakery, and there it was in the window. I figured maybe it was a sign.”
“A sign?”
“I thanked my lucky stars and thought, ‘If I’m really meant to have that vegan coffeecake, let there be a parking spot right in front of the bakery.’”
“And there was?”
“Sure enough. On my eighth trip around the block, there it was!”
?!
And now we have a heartline in Spanish, with multiple-language subtitles, from Ximena in Peru
