American author and lecturer Luis Minero began having out-of-body experiences (OBEs) at age 12. It was the 1980s, and his father had bought him one of the earliest 8-bit computers. After falling asleep one afternoon, Luis became aware that he was sitting at his computer, hands on the keyboard, thinking about a program he wanted to design. Then it occurred to him— hadn’t he gone to sleep? He turned toward the bed and saw his physical body lying there. Shocked, he snapped back in and woke up. He knew clearly he had been “over there,” separate from his body, and was certain it was not a dream.
As a teenager, he tested this further. Leaving his body one night, he floated three or four blocks from home to observe parked cars. He memorized one license plate, returned to his body, then walked there at 2:00 am to check. The cars and plate were exactly as seen during the out-of-body experience.
Luis also had a near-death out-of-body experience in his early 20s. He consciously chose to return, feeling himself squeeze down, get smaller, and slam back into the pain of his body. At the time, he was a mechanical engineering and physics student, and he continued his life as normal after returning.
Many of Luis’s out-of-body experiences involve helping confused deceased individuals. Some die suddenly and are shocked to find themselves outside their bodies. Others remain attached to unresolved traumas or believe nothing exists after death. Lost in disoriented dimensions, they attract similar confused beings. In these states, Luis helps by disconnecting them from those realities and guiding them toward spirit guides or “Beings of Light” who lead them onward to reassess their lives and continue their spiritual growth.
These encounters affect Luis deeply. He connects energetically with lost souls, entering their memories and emotions. He sometimes feels things he has never experienced himself, like overwhelming loneliness or desperate searching for direction. Witnessing many such cases has changed how he sees people— their inner struggles, hopes, and illusions— and has made him more understanding.
Luis has had many out-of-body experiences and feels comfortable in non-physical reality. Although some of his science colleagues are skeptical, he urges them to stay open-minded and seek answers within, believing out-of-body experiences will one day be recognized scientifically.
Luis believes many people plan their main goals and lessons before birth, and his out-of-body experiences give him glimpses of his own purpose. Though he wants to accomplish much here first, he accepts that when his time comes, he will leave peacefully and move on to the next stage of his forever life-stream (Jonas Rosen)
