This is a song from Oaxaca, Mexico. “La Llorona” – “The Crying Woman.” I’m very honored and very pleased to be part of this event. And now, ladies and gentlemen, if I may, I’d like to introduce you to someone who is not only a wonderful musician, but he is also the director of an academy of music in Vanves, a town next to Paris.Jacques Brel. Thank you. Jacques Brel has contributed quite a deal to French music. Of course, you know he’s a man from Belgium. He wrote so many beautiful songs. He died so young, but his songs are still alive in most of our hearts. And one of his songs is my favorite, and it sounds like this. “I will offer you The rain pearls Coming from countries Where it doesn’t rain. I will dig the earth Until after my death To cover your body With gold and light.”After such a wonderfully heightened musical moment, we’re fortunate to have with us tonight two of the best folk performing artists out of Âu Lạc (Vietnam). Ms. Ái Vân and Mr. Kiều Hưng. They will join forces on the stage in presenting a variety of folk songs from Âu Lạc (Vietnam).
