Ms. Destiny Herndon-De La Rosa, founder and President of New Wave Feminists, is a powerful voice in the pro-life movement. The organization believes that every person deserves a life free from violence – “from the womb to the tomb.” New Wave Feminists also emphasizes the urgent need for societal reform, particularly in providing the support and resources necessary for women to choose life and raise their children in dignity, safety, and comfort.Ms. Herndon-De La Rosa also calls for increased awareness and understanding, so that women can truly know how their bodies function – especially the reproductive system. “There is a misunderstanding of how our bodies work, and there’s so much just let's medicate you, your perfectly working system and put a, you know, class one carcinogen, which is what a lot of birth control is. We’re just going to go ahead and medicate you, take a perfectly working system and break it down, rather than women actually understanding their fertility and being fully empowered. And I was one of those as well. I didn’t understand truly until I was in my 30’s, how my cycle actually works, and that there is a way to know when I’m fertile and when I’m likely to conceive. But I think a lot of young people aren’t given that information.”An understanding of unborn children’s biology can also be a powerful benefit. It can help people to understand that these young humans are much more than a “clump of cells” as many abortion providers misleadingly tell women. Many abortion providers also fail to offer ultrasounds, not allowing women to see their babies for this very reason. “I fully support bodily autonomy. That’s a huge thing. But when does bodily autonomy begin? I would argue that bodily autonomy should begin the moment your body first exists, right? It should be free from violence and oppression. And so, for me, you know, a lot of the vernacular surrounding women’s rights and reproductive rights, it’s trying to sugarcoat something that is actually violence against the weakest and most innocent members of our human family.”
